It’s my first week reporting on my health and fitness life that I was keeping shy from my style blog. In case you missed it, I will be recapping my week every Friday with a Fitness Friday blog post including my days at the gym, in the studio and in the kitchen.  Here is my first post!

Misleading Pins on Pinterest

I hate it when people repin things on pinterest without bothering to look at where the pin goes. Half the time it goes to some scam weightloss site or miracle weightloss wrap. When i want a recipe of a vegetarian chickpea burger and it goes to a site for delectable salads and not the recipe for the burger it really irks me. Stop getting my hopes up!

I said No to food

I am Italian and Chinese, and anyone who has family that is from those cultures you know that food is what brings the family together. So when it is time to eat you are not messing around. Hence, me and food have always had a good relationship it has always been there when I needed it, when I am bored, sad, lonely, hungry, happy or anxious. But today my boyfriend and his friends were going out to get tacos for happy hour. And I listened to my stomach, which wasn’t hungry after eating graham crackers and peanut butter and carrot sticks. And I said No. I said No to food because I wasn’t hungry. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW BIG OF A DEAL THIS IS TO ME. I haven’t done that since like early high school…..Now I just need to keep it up.

Seeking advice on improving a person’s health who has gout

My dad has a pretty bad case of gout. His hands, feet and knee all swell up and turn purple. At first it was just one foot, then it was both feet, then his feet and hands, now its feet, hands, and knee. He claims he feels “healthy” “fine” and “young.” He even went to the extent of saying he was a “Greek God.”

As a result, he eats all of the food that he is not supposed to, as well as drinks all of the beverages he is not supposed to. I am talking about whole steaks, and a six pack of beer ( probably in a night). He hides these things from us then he gets gout and hobbles around the house saying he has it under control.

We have tried having an intervention with him and change his diet and he wont listen. My mom and I have started cooking lunch and dinner with anti-infammatory recipes, but he boycotts it and refuses to eat it.

Any advice on what to do to change his way of eating? Or what kind of future he will have if he keeps getting gout once or twice a month?

My first time

This is the first time I have ever been hungry and craved a liquid…. I never opt for a smoothie to replace a meal, it just doesn’t make sense to me.  I feel like I am drinking and drinking is something I do when I am eating.  But I was raiding the fridge and I closed it when I realized I wanted Jamba Juice. Hmmm interesting feeling.
